A message from GetYourGuide CEO and cofounder Johannes Reck: "2026 is shaping up to be our best summer yet"

The following message was originally posted on LinkedIn by GetYourGuide CEO and co-founder, Johannes Reck, on July 29, 2026.

Our focus on the customer took us to €1B+ revenue and profitability in 2025, and it’s our focus that’s making 2026 even better.

Over the first half of 2026, our customers booked over 18 million experiences on @GetYourGuide, growing our GMV by 27% year over year while improving our profitability.

H1 2026 has been a reminder that when headwinds come, people’s desire to travel doesn’t stop. Amid rising fuel prices, altered flight routes, and airport disruptions, travelers haven’t retreated, but rerouted.

This is why we’ve made our inventory strategy a key priority at GetYourGuide. We curate unforgettable experiences worth traveling for across the globe, and help travelers make the right choice. In H1, global travelers chose to discover nearly 10,000 destinations with GetYourGuide, up 40% from the same period last year.

Against this backdrop, one H1 trend that stands out to me is our growth in North America. We’ve invested for years in reaching these customers with our superior offering and winning their trust by helping them choose well.

Now, we’re seeing that pay off. Our H1 GMV in North America grew by 34%, outpacing our global growth rate. 💪

Here's how customers from North America booked with us in H1:

→ Among first-time bookers, sightseeing and boat tours were the top categories, representing 44% of first-time NA bookings. Given that great guides are the #1 delighter in our space, I’m not surprised.

→ Across all NA travelers, Rome led as the most booked city by a wide margin, with the other European destinations rounding out the top ten. Prague also stood out as the fastest-growing European city, up 110% year over year.

→ A new appetite is emerging beyond Europe too: Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Panama all more than doubled year over year, signaling that these travelers are expanding their horizons. We're ready for them.

North America’s cultural norms and quirks are unique, but at the root of it all, the urge that drives us to travel is universal. We all want to connect with the places we visit, feel the expertise and passion of those who live there, and return with a new sense of ourselves.

That’s the feeling we’ve been focused on unlocking for our customers for 17 years now, and that focus won’t change. We’re at the peak of our high season and, already,  2026 is shaping up to be our best summer yet.

Where’s your summer vacation taking you?
